Measure Employee Wellbeing with these 6 metrics

With January coming to an end, it's time to check in with your employees! At EngageTalent, prioritising employee wellbeing is a core value. From flexible working to yoga sessions and wellness days, we are seeing more companies committed to nurturing the health, satisfaction and work-life balance of its employees.

Healthy employees = a healthy business.  By healthy we refer to the physical & mental health as well as the emotional rapport between employees & the company.

Why? Prioritising employee wellbeing isn't just beneficial for increasing productivity and employee engagement it's essential for your business's success. Recognising that employee burnout can also have detrimental effects on your business, and therefore investing in wellbeing is a strategic imperative.

At EngageTalent we envision that employees should:

  • Be healthy, encouraging physical activity and restful breaks

  • Feel a sense of value and purpose in their work.

  • Be happy & satisfied with their working environment & social interactions

  • Enjoy a good work-life balance.

  • Be encouraged by an open culture to feel heard, supported & comfortable

  • Trust that their employer is committed to providing support for their mental & physical health

Measuring employee wellbeing allows you to identify trends, react quickly and diffuse issues down the line.

Here are 6 metrics you can use as a guide:

  • Employee Feedback & ratings - (e.g Pulse or engagement surveys - Free template below )

  • Employee Net Promoter score (eNPS)

  • Productivity levels / Employee Performance

  • Sick days - (Possible flag of overworked employees, stress from work or overall dissatisfaction)

  • Overtime - (spending too much time working can mean too much workload, misalignment in priorities, too-tight deadlines)

  • Employee Turnover - (This can be a sign of general dissatisfaction within the company)

Measuring attendance is commonly used, but one to use with caution, as it doesn’t say enough about how satisfied employees are with their work. Plus, employees could also come to work even when dealing with physical or mental illnesses.
